Chapter twenty-six

Meg sighed, playing with her hands. “I’m sorry I was grumpy. I was just angry with myself for what happened today.”

She dropped her head and sniffled.

I gazed at her in astonishment. She looked so vulnerable and beautiful, sitting on my cot in her silly pajamas. It was almost hard to believe she was the same warrior woman who’d ruthlessly crushed scorpids and treants all day.

“You handled it amazingly, Meg. We achieved our goal and came back stronger.”

Meg curled her hair behind her ear, looking at me. Her eyes were puffy from tears. “And I guess it was inevitable. I had to face it sooner or later. The truth is, I have always known I was claustrophobic, ever since I was a little girl.”

I reached over and gently squeezed her shoulder.

She nodded thoughtfully. “I always knew, but I didn’t admit it, because what kind of a dungeon diver is claustrophobic? So, I just hoped it would go away if I ignored it.”

“But you’ll be better now that you’ve faced your fear.”

She smiled. “Yes, I think so too.”

“In fact, our team is getting stronger—”

The cot creaked as Meg suddenly scooted closer, leaning towards me. “You’re talking too much, Drakin.”

With her big blue eyes glazing over, she offered her lips.

I kissed her slowly and softly. Her eyes fluttered shut, and she moaned into my mouth.

I put a hand on her waist and another on her shoulder, breaking the kiss so I could look into her eyes. Her pajama top was short, so my hand easily slipped underneath, touching her soft, warm skin.

Her cheeks flushed as she looked at me, holding my gaze before casting her eyes down.

“Um, Tom?”

“Yeah?”

“I wanted to say something. Um… Well… Okay, I’m being silly! I should just say it.”

I raised her chin, rubbing my thumb over her silky cheek. “What is it?”

“Well… there’s something I’d like to tell you.”

Meg took a deep breath, her eyes meeting mine with nervous tension.

“I just... I want you to know how much this means to me. Us, diving together. I’ve never felt so... alive, you know? And it’s not just the dungeon. It’s you. Like… being with you, I mean.”

“I feel the same way,” I said softly, pulling her closer.

Our lips met, and in that kiss, I felt all the unspoken emotions we’d been building up since our first dive together.

Her tongue searched greedily, pushing against my mouth. I parted my lips, and our tongues met. I took hers into my lips and savored it.

She hung her arms around my neck, moaning. Sinking back onto the cot, Meg lay beside me,

head resting on my chest.

She brushed her fingers over my stomach. I reciprocated, letting my hand explored her back before caressing a handful of her ample ass and holding it firmly.

“That feels good,” she panted in my ear, throwing her thick thigh across my waist.

She writhed her hips against me, moaning.

My length became rock hard beneath the blankets as Meg kept rubbing herself against my pelvis, humping me through her pajamas.

“There’s something else we have to talk about,” she said with a quivering breath against my neck.
